Music Industry Seminar - Copyright; is it a legal or an ethical issue?
From Teesside (University) with Love presents...
A session exploring the career of locally based songwriter Steve Thompson – and the many twists and turns of copyright affecting his ability to profit from his talent; a songwriter of international repute, with credits for Elaine Paige, Celine Dion and Sarah Brightman. He has also worked with Andy Taylor of Duran Duran, Toni Halliday of Curve and produced heavy metal acts like The Tygers of Pan Tang, Raven, Venom and many more he claims to have forgotten.
Simon Long is a lawyer who specialises in media and entertainment industries. His current clients range from artists, their management and A-list record producers – with links to Bjork, Rufus Wainwright, David Gray, Feeder, Girls Aloud and Elliot Minor.
The session will be an entertaining ‘warts and all’ journey with Steve telling of his experiences and promising to name names; with his trusted lawyer Simon on hand to keep him out of the law courts!
